A BASIC RULE!

Hi my name is Richard Buchanan.

I want to have an adventure and I want you to come with me! I want to meet people, interview them and post it on this VBLOG and I want to share it with anyone who would like to take the time.

My Extra-ordinary Blog is dedicated to the interviewing of ordinary people in an extraordinary way. This doesn't mean in a hot air baloon or on top of the empire state building or naked.  It refers to the process of choice that lead me to each subject.  The process is the most important part. The process is the magical element that drives the idea.

SO WHAT IS EXTRA-ORDINARY all about?

Well, to start off with I think I should explain a little of the background behind this project.  I am always coming up with silly ideas about word of mouth. It seems to me to be a very interesting thing to think about.  I love communication and everything that goes with it!

The main influence on the creation of this project came from reading and being inspired blogs on Type-pad and listening to numerous podcasts. Most importantly the ITCONVERSATIONS website and especially a podcast by O'reilly Called "In Search of the alpha geek".  This Presentation at some big tech show was concerned with finding the smartest people in the a certain area. I thought the method they used for doing this was incredibly simple and incredibly, incredibly powerful.  Basically, the team would approach a geeky looking guy/girl and ask them the following Question "who is the smartest person you know?"  They would then go to the recommended person and asked the same question, so on and so forth until they met a person with the answer "I am the smartest person I know".  Whilst listneing to this I had an image of a Livingstone type charater trying to find the source of the Amazon river and a word appeared in front of me "ADVENTURE!"

I decided right there and then that I wanted to explore the idea of meeting and interviewing people on personal recommendation.  This  blog will be dedicated to showing the development of the above simple idea. A simple question that could take me on an extraordinary adventure.  The Question is "Who is the SMARTEST person you know?". I think this process could tell us alot about our understanding of intelligence.

Well I will try to post as many interviews a week as I can. I should have the first one up and running by the end of the week.
